About Me:

Hello all you guys and dolls, Kate at your culinary service. I can honestly say that cooking was something I was born into. My first experience came at the age of 4, when my Gram taught me how to make biscuits with beer. And well, from that moment on cooking was just part of who I was. I even spent my senior year of my high school's spring break at the Disney Institute taking some cooking classes.

In the fall of 2000 I started my professional culinary training/ journey at GRCC. During my required internship I returned to Disney yet again for the College Program and worked at the Coral Reef Restaurant in the Living Seas Pavilion at EPCOT. From there I returned to school and graduated.

In 2003 I moved to Hawaii to attend UH, but found myself being pulled back into the fray of the kitchen. When you can stand the heat, get back in it! I went to work for the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. I even ended up returning to Florida to help open their Universal Studios restaurant. However, after 2 years at Bubba's it was time to get back to my roots of cooking.

This is where I find myself most at ease and creative. I went to work for a small independent bistro where I focused on organic, vegetarian, and vegan cooking. As was my focus in school; I now had the bees knees of opportunities to get back to the real ART of what I think food is...and that guys and dolls is the interpretation of what Mother Earth provides for us, whether it be beast, fish, fowl, fauna, or flora.

I am a bit quirky, a bit eccentric, and I am always trying to find ways to think out side of the box with my cooking. But, in my mind when it comes to interpretation, there are no rules, except one...MAKE IT TASTE GOOD!

Other things about Moi, I published a book of poetry in 2010 called "Filtered Love." I also love to write ficition and fanfiction and have a blog and write on FF.net. I love to blog and just be apart of this crazy cyber world. And if you haven't noticed already I absolutely adore the 1940's era and the Pin-Up Girl! Check out my Facebook and LinkIn (on my home page click on the About Moi Pic to be sent to my LinkedIn page for more info). Let's get chummy and make something yummy!
